It’s no secret that the next big jobs gap in healthcare will be between healthcare professionals and nurse practitioners.
While the two fields are not mutually exclusive, a shortage of nurses will likely have a negative impact on both, said Janice Bock, president of the American Nurses Association.
“If we see more nurses leaving the profession, it’s going to put more pressure on our healthcare system,” she said.
In order to close the gap, Bock and her members are advocating for the creation of a new health care career that will be geared toward nurses.
They are also pushing for the introduction of a cap on nurse salaries and for employers to hire more health care professionals to fill that position.
It’s not the first time that a nurse has spoken up about the lack of qualified nurses in the profession.
In 2014, for instance, the National Nurses Union (NNU) published a paper called “The Nurses’ Health Care: What’s Missing” that detailed the gap in the health care workforce.
The paper detailed the challenges that nurses face when they are in the workforce.
“The healthcare profession has been struggling for years to fill the gap between nurses and physicians.
Nurses need to have a competitive job market, a job market that allows them to be the best doctors in their profession and have the ability to teach the next generation of nurses how to do this,” the NNU’s John B. Jones wrote in the paper.
“But if we continue to create this gap, we are creating a generation of physicians who will not be qualified for the jobs of the future.”
Bock said she thinks that the nurse shortage is a bigger issue than just the shortage of healthcare professionals.
“There are more than 20 million nurses, so we need to increase our supply,” she explained.
“We need to make sure that our hospitals are staffed and our health care workers have access to the care they need.”
For many nurses, the biggest problem they face is that they are unable to find a place to work when they graduate from nursing school.
There are currently fewer than 5,000 nursing positions in the United States, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
While many nursing graduates are able to find work in other fields, Bocks job, for example, does not require a bachelor’s degree.
However, that doesn’t mean that nursing graduates aren’t working in the healthcare industry.
According to Bock’s research, nearly 80 percent of all nurses who work in the U.S. are employed in health care, including both primary care and advanced practice.
“It’s important to have access,” Bock explained.
However that doesn,t mean that there aren’t enough nurses in both fields.
For instance, Bicks research showed that, on average, nurses working in primary care jobs earn between $45,000 and $65,000.
Nursing graduates, on the other hand, earn $62,000, while healthcare graduates, earn an average of $80,000 annually.
That disparity means that a shortage in nurses will also have a detrimental impact on healthcare workers.
“When you have a shortage, it can be very detrimental to healthcare workers,” Bocks said.
“You can’t find someone who is able to do the job.”
The Nurses union has also pushed for increased training for nurses to ensure that they can find jobs.
Bock believes that if there are more nurse candidates, it would be good for both healthcare and nursing.
“That’s why we need a new generation of graduates,” she concluded.
“And they’re going to be able to get the training they need to be ready to go into the workforce.”
