An online job application from McDonald’s that was supposed to take just three minutes to fill out is now in the hands of a federal judge.
The company is fighting the lawsuit filed in New York State by the state’s attorney general, who wants the information removed from the application.
The application was supposed just to show an interviewee’s resume, but the judge said it was too long, and the document was too detailed.
The filing comes after a judge in California ordered the company to pay $1 million to a woman who claimed the job application went way over her head.
The California case, filed by attorney Mark Geragos, alleges that the job applicant was never given a chance to prepare the job description and was only given a short summary of what she was expected to do, not the job itself.
A spokeswoman for McDonald’s said Friday the company is continuing to work with the state to defend itself in the lawsuit.
The case is being heard in Manhattan federal court.
