Airways, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, American Continental and Southwest Airlines are among the companies expected to close their doors, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
Delta, which had 4.5 million jobs, said it would close its doors for up to three months, while American said it was considering a voluntary shutdown.
United said it could shut down its operations in 20 U.A.E. cities and could reduce service by up to 20 percent.
Southwest said it may shut down services in some cities, while United Continental said it expects to keep services operating at the same level.
Airlines including United, Delta, American, American Southwest and United Continental have been operating at or below capacity since the start of the year.
