The number of Amazon warehouse jobs in Canada is growing at an even faster rate and at a faster pace than Canada, according to a new report.
In fact, Amazon has over 1.6 million employees in Canada.
And Amazon Canada is hiring at a rate of nearly 4,000 per month, with the company hiring nearly 500 new employees each day.
This year’s job growth has been a massive one.
For Amazon Canada, the number of new hires increased from 8,000 in 2016 to 16,000 today.
There are over 1,800 positions available for the current job market.
“The hiring and retention of new employees in this country is an extremely important issue for our company and its members.
That is why we have been working to support our employees through this transition period,” said CEO Jeff Bezos in a statement.
Bezos also noted that Amazon Canada has added more than $1 billion in hiring and investments since 2015, adding that the company has also become an “all-volunteer organization.”
The hiring spree is part of Amazon’s ongoing efforts to diversify the company’s workforce in Canada and across the world.
It is expected that Amazon will continue to hire in Canada for the foreseeable future.
